Sentence
conjunctions
(sometimes also called
adverbs)
combine two full
sentences. They can be at the beginning of the second
sentence or right after the verb in the sentence.
The following are the most
common sentence conjunctions and their meaning.
deshalb / deswegen (aus diesem Grund)

Since sentence conjunctions are independent sentence elements, they do not affect the word order in a sentence. However, when they take the first position, as they do in two examples below, both the conjugated verb and then the subject must come directly after the conjunction. No comma is required.
Meine Mutter
ist schon 58. Trotzdem
kann sie noch mit einem Fitnessprogramm beginnen.
My mother is already 58. Despite that, she can still start
a fitness program.
